The Pulse: Briarwood’s NEW Online Radio Station…Worldwide!
This Fall, Briarwood College launched its brand new, 100% student-operated Internet radio station called “The Pulse – The Heartbeat of Briarwood College” which broadcasts online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is a brand new service of Briarwood to offer further insight into the college and its many activities year-round.

Who’s on the air?
Current students and alumni from the Broadcasting and Communications Department are your “hosts” on The Pulse. They are the voices of all the announcers , DJs, newscasters, sportscasters, weather forecasters and interviewers you’ll hear. Their real-time, real-world experience on The Pulse helps prepare them for the exciting world of commercial broadcast media.
What type of music is on the Pulse?
A wide variety of contemporary music, or, as the station slogan says, “the past, present, and future of rock, rap, and R&B”. this means you can hear today’s top hits plus multiple genres of music over the past 20 years in a mass-appeal blend.
What makes The Pulse unique?
Unlike the vast majority of thousands of college radio stations in the USA, The Pulse is NOT students playing whatever they want, since that is never the way commercial radio stations are run and provides zero real-world experience to the student. Instead, the musical format of the Pulse is carefully chosen and sequenced by trained students and broadcast faculty to provide a format and professional delivery style that provides a consistent “sound” no matter when you tune in. This provides the Briarwood students with a higher skill set and greater opportunities to secure employment at a commercial station.
